These images make me think of microscopic slides of tissue samples. The tissue is dyed a specific color depending on the type of tissue sample. The tissue is cut very thin using a tool called a microtome. These images seem l ike a very thin slice of the life that is lived in those homes. However, the thinness is necessary to study the "sample" closely. The images are "laid out" on the bare background like a tissue slide. Gentilly Histopathology in a manner of speaking.
